TMS girls take first at Worland cross country

Worland was the place, but it was the Thermopolis Middle School Girls who brought the heat. Winning first place with 42 points, edging out Cody with 45 points, Powell 74 points, Lovell with 78 points and Worland 86.

With three star runners hitting in the top ten on their finish, Tahja Hunt, McKenna Bomengen and Emme Norsworthy are leaving the competition in the dust. The rest of the girl's team is not far behind, with Erica Meier just right at 11th and Jasmine Collins at 16th. All together they showed the other teams just what it means to be a Bobcat.

Middle School boys are right there representing, too. Wyatt McDermott who showed his stamina by taking the first mile aggressively and held it till the end finishing at 11th place. Coach Abel says this is impressive for a 6th grade boy. Josiah Butler is making strong progress each race.

Coach Abel had this to say, "We won at the team level today in Worland and Monday in Rocky Mountain - we need to carry out this effort for the last two meets of the season."

The High School Girls placed 5th as a team. With improvements evident every race, this was a challenging race as the Cats came off two separate meets last week. Coach Abel stressed the importance of the Rocky Mountain course because the Bobcats will be revisiting it for Conference. Jules Ward took 9 seconds off of her time last year and Liz Rhodes took of 1:52 from her time.

Sean Miller ran his first race after finishing up the golf season. Kylar LaBoy ran a great race with his finish time under 21 minutes. Adam Hanson had a 23:18 a good time for just starting out. This is their first year for High School Cross Country, they are getting used to the training and the races.
