WJRA Rodeo this weekend

It’s time for the younger generation to show their stuff at the Wyoming Junior Rodeo Association (WJRA) rodeo July 25 and 26 at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds.

The WJRA is expecting 40 to 50 cowboys and cowgirls.

Performances start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, 9 a.m. on Sunday, and Cowboy Church will be offered at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Grand stands are open to the public and entry to the fairgrounds is free.

Contestants are split into three age groups with a list of eligible events. Pee Wee contestants are 6 years old and under and compete in barrel racing, pole bending, and goat tail tying. Junior division contestants are 7-10 years old. Senior division contestants are 11-15 years old. Junior and senior girls compete in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping, and team roping. Junior boys compete in goat tying, breakaway roping, team roping, and steer riding. Senior boys compete in the same events except instead of goat tying they can compete in calf tying.
