Visit the Farmers Market Saturday for fresh produce

Looking for some local produce? Visit your local farmers market. Looking for some low-key family fun? Visit your local farmers market. The Thermopolis Farmers Market starts back up for the season on Saturday, July 25 and will feature locally-made products as well as a welcoming forum to visit with neighbors, share recipes, listen to live music, and enjoy a relaxing morning downtown.

The fourth annual farmers market, supported by the Master Gardener’s, will be set up in the same location - Fifth Street will be closed from the flagpole to the alley by Pinnacle Bank – and will begin at 8 a.m. but will be extending their hours this year until 11 a.m. Only locally-made products will be sold at the farmers market to support local farmers, ranchers, canners, bakers, artists, and more.

With the passing of the State of Wyoming’s Food Freedom Act, farmer’s markets have become a direct market for producers to reach consumers without limitations. The law passed earlier this year made it legal to sell homemade food products directly to consumers without heavy regulation. Re-sale of these products still has strict requirements; but now home canners, bakers, gardeners, etc. are able to bring their products directly to their consumers. What better way than a local gathering of community members shopping for local goods?

The Thermopolis Farmers Market has proven to be a good place to showcase art, produce, and baked goods, but anyone with a homemade product is encouraged to set up a booth and sell their product.

Interested individuals should contact Farmers Market Manager, Sonja Becker at (307) 921-8456, or come early to the market and fill out an application on site.

Booth fees are $5 or $25 for the entire season which will run until the end of September or early October.
