About 78 years ago, Nancy Haynes came into the world in Sunnyside, Wash., in a building that was a combination nursing home and hospital. “I have a picture of it,” she said of the building, noting her friend bought the house several years ago and currently lives there. “It still had the original wiring in it.” Haynes said her grandparents, her father and his family had come from Iowa to Sunnyside, where his uncle had a pear and apple orchard.
