The Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce held their annual Demolition Derby on August 10 at the fairgrounds. When all the smashing and crashing was over, Thermopolis resident Chase Mead captured first place in the winners heat and earned $3,000 plus a trophy. On August 8, America's Best Restaurants (ABR) visited One Eyed Buffalo Brewing Company (OEB) in downtown Thermopolis and filmed a variety of subjects, including some of their food and they held an interview with owners Binky and Jennifer Fisher. Hot Springs Health has announced that Natalya Keller, CPA, CHFP, has been named Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Hot Springs Health (HSH). Natalya replaces the interim CFO who has filled the position since December of 2023. At the August 6 Thermopolis Town Council meeting held at Town Hall during citizen participation, Eric Kay presented a request for a proposed Shriners Parade on Saturday, September 21. The 2024 Junior Livestock Auction and Judges' Choice Bake Sale brought in $223,698.50, down from $266,429.75 last year. Official results from the sale have been released. The livestock were auctioned off live and the baked goods were sold at a silent auction. Twenty-nine head of beef came through the ring this year and sold for an average of $4,185.36 per head for a total sales amount of $121,375.50.
