The 12th annual Big Game Banquet and Auction will be Saturday, March 26 at the Hot Springs County Fair Building. The event is sponsored by the Big Horn Basin Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF). The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled a flushing flow in the Bighorn River downstream of Boysen Dam, according to Wyoming Area Manager, Carlie Ronca. This operation is at the request of, and in coordination with, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. “The purpose of the flushing flow is to improve trout reproduction by flushing fine sediments from spawning gravels in the river,” said Ronca. Wyoming Game and Fish Dept. will hold a Living in Large Carnivore Country workshop Wednesday, March 23 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the meeting room at Big Horn Federal Bank. The Hot Springs County High School Speech and Debate team brought home third place honors over the weekend from the State Speech Tournament in Buffalo. Senior Darren Leonhardt broke all the way to finals, finishing the day with a sixth place win in extemp. He took second in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. This summer, senior KinDale Andreen will have the chance to pursue her passion, having been invited to the 2016 Wyoming Shrine Bowl as an athletic trainer. The game is scheduled for Saturday, June 11 at Casper. Andreen found out about the invitation on March 8, and said she's really excited and honored for it. Saturday afternoon at the Hot Springs County Museum, the county Historical Society hosted a presentation from Dr. Laura Vietti titled "Wyoming Paleontology: Fossils that inspired a Nation."
