Enrollment in the Hot Springs County District schools is on the rise. In April 2015, a total of 614 students were enrolled in the district. In April 2016, enrollment numbers have soared to 658. The Children's Resource Center seeks funds to help with their Dolly Parton Imagination Library reading program. Elizabeth Accurso, a classroom teacher at CRC, said Hot Springs County was the first county in Wyoming to adopt the program. In 1916, a suspension bridge was built across the Bighorn River in Hot Springs State Park. Commonly referred to as “The Swinging Bridge,” it will get a new look for the evening hours in celebration of its 100 years. Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital recently upgraded its magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) capabilities, and though the system is not yet usable for patients it certainly means a lot in terms of the hospital's ability to serve the community. Earlier this month, Police Chief Steven Shay announced before the Town Council that Sergeant Mike Chimenti was bidding farewell to law enforcement. As of Monday, Chimenti is officially off-duty, having tendered his resignation. This June would have marked his 42nd year. Kids of all ages will be able to celebrate Easter twice this year with two Easter egg hunts planned in Thermopolis. The first hunt will be at Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Care Center for children up to 10-years-old on Saturday, March 26. Children over 10 can volunteer to help with the hunt.
