Students in the Hot Springs County School District have been doing distance learning for several weeks now and the principals in each of the buildings presented their participation rate for the various grades at their April meeting. Principal Catelyn Deromedi from Ralph Witters Elementary told the board they are having great success with the current learning situation with 97 percent of students working from home. Hot Springs County Travel and Tourism’s Director Jackie Dorothy welcomed new members Rachel Moon and Susan Lankford to the board during their April meeting via Zoom. Dorothy presented the latest financial report to the board. She said their numbers started off strong in March. “We were hit hard, as everyone knows, from the Coronavirus and those numbers fizzled off.” She compared the total revenue for April, which was $8,212.59. The Wyoming FFA has announced its plan for rescheduling parts of its annual convention, including delivering some content online. The FFA was forced to cancel its convention due to school and facility closures from Covid19 related health concerns. The convention was to take place April 15-18 in Cheyenne. The Hot Springs County Commissioners approved a purchase by Anthony Fruciano, head of maintenance, to help with installation of new plexiglass shields at counters in the courthouse. The Thermopolis Town Council recently voted and approved Rachel Moon to join the Travel and Tourism Board.
