    Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department Chief, Mark Collins, has held his position for nearly thirty years and is one of the longest in Wyoming and Hot Springs County. Collins first started volunteering for the fire department in 1992. In 1993 Collins started out as a secretary, then took over as treasurer for about seven or eight months.     Residents should have received invitations and packs of tickets in the mail for the 2022 Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department’s Fireman’s Ball. The event will be Saturday, Feb. 12 at the VFW Club from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. This year Rattlesnake Ridge of Worland will provide music.     Hot Springs State Park Supervisor Kevin Skates reported the 2021 visitation numbers for the park as 1,757,299 visitors. Skates also said those numbers were from their digital sensors, which they had some technical issues with, and that number could be close to 2 million visitors.     At the January 19 Hot Springs County Travel and Tourism meeting held via Zoom, Treasurer Audra Dominguez provided the financial report. The lodging tax revenue for December 2021 was $17,981.77, which marks the halfway point of the fiscal year. Their Year to Date revenue total is $142,239.07.     Average gas prices in Wyoming unchanged in the past week CHEYENNE (WNE) — Average gasoline prices in Wyoming are unchanged in the last week, averaging $3.29 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy.com’s survey of 494 stations in Wyoming. Prices in Wyoming are 5.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand $1.05 per gallon higher than a year ago.     Owner Roland Luehne plans to open Micky’s Theater in the coming few weeks. The theater is named after Micky Wallace who worked for the Star Plunge since 1978, for about 44 years.
