The Hot Springs County Fair, which occurs from July 30 to August 5 at the fairgrounds, will not have pig wrestling this year. Cassie Owsley, FFA Alumni President, said, “Ron and Donna Dalin of Double D Livestock LLC said the main reason they were unable to have and host pig wrestling this year is because the people that they have bought pigs from in the past have gone out of business. In 1913, Hot Springs County became a county after being carved out of Fremont, then Big Horn Counties. In 2013, the local Centennial Committee offered a tree planting program to promote the centennial celebration by asking local citizens to plant a tree. There were 100 trees planted around the county, each receiving a small brass commemorative plate to bear witness of the tree. At the June Hot Springs Health board meeting, CEO Margie Molitor gave her final growth report prior to her retirement. She said the recent state survey was “probably the best survey that Hot Springs Health has had in years. I mean, from what I could see. CHEYENNE – The elderly population (age 65 and over) in the state grew 3.6 percent between July 2020 and July 2021, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates. In comparison, Wyoming’s total population only grew 0.3 percent during the same period. A cookie jar auction fundraiser will be held Saturday, July 9 for Jessica Power and her preemie twins, Kimber and Colt. It will begin at 6 p.m. at the HSC Fair Building. In mid April, Jessica’s blood pressure spiked and after being transported to a Billings hospital the twins were born via c-section on April 16. The Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department is planning on holding their Independence Day fireworks show on Monday, July 4, according to Chief Mark Collins.
