    At the August 31 Hot Springs Health board meeting, CEO Margie Molitor gave an update on Covid at the hospital. Molitor reported that she had a call with the State of Wyoming about activating the National Guard to help in hospitals and nursing homes.     As of Monday, August 30, there were 131 total confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Hot Springs County in the last 14 days. There were 104 active cases and four deaths had been linked to the virus. On Tuesday, August 31, Hot Springs County School District Superintendent Dustin Hunt announced the district would be moving to digital instruction beginning Sept. 1 with a plan to return to in-person instruction on Sept. 13.     Melissa Soneson is facing two counts of felony arson and other misdemeanor charges after allegedly starting two fires on Thursday, August 26. At 8:49 a.m. that morning, Sheriff Kraushaar and Deputy Cox responded to a call on 330 Lane 12 for a report of a motorhome on fire. When they arrived, the motorhome was fully engulfed in flames and the Thermopolis Fire Department was actively fighting the fire.     An $8.78 million slide stabilization/rock scaling project began on Tuesday, Aug. 31, alongside US20/WY789 through Wind River Canyon between Shoshoni and Thermopolis.     The inductees for this year’s Bobcat Hall of Fame have been announced. Included are the 2009 Bobcat Football Team, Shawna (Buckner) Farrell, Tom Zupan and Jack Kuiper. An induction ceremony and dinner will be held during Bobcat Homecoming week on Thursday, Sept 23 at 6 p.m. in the Thermopolis Middle School Commons.   • Malta Lodge moves toward improving building

    Eric Kay of the local Mason Malta Lodge #17 has been successful in finding grant money to help them improve their building’s facade. The lodge is a 116-year-old building that was built in 1905. The Masons have done many local philanthropic charity events and they seek to do more. Kay said they applied first with the Main Street Thermopolis nonprofit organization to see if the lodge could be included in their jurisdiction by expanding their boundaries, but that approach ended up not being successful.     The Hot Springs County School Board was treated to an explanation of new federal food service guidelines from District Food Service Coordinator Hannah Brooks on Aug. 19, after she covered the success of the district’s summer food service program.
