Residents came out in force last Wednesday to welcome home Thermopolis Police Sergeant Mike Mascorro who was injured in a shooting on April 28. Mascorro was life-flighted to Casper after emergency surgery at Hot Springs Health. Mascorro is glad to be home and in good spirits as he navigates the healing process. The Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame (WCHF) has selected 25 inductees for the Class of 2023. The WCHF State Board of Directors voted on the nominees from across the state during its annual meeting April 29. The 10th annual induction ceremony will be at the Ramkota Hotel in Casper, Sept. 15 and 16. It is open to the public. Thermopolis Police Sgt. Mike Mascorro is in stable condition after an officer-involved shooting on Friday. According to information released by the Thermopolis Police Department (TPD), on Friday, April 28 at approximately 12:37 p.m. there was an officer involved shooting at a residence off of Canyon Hills Road. A $71,880 emergency project with a Colorado rock-scaling company will provide time-sensitive work that began Tuesday to stabilize an active slide just inside the south end of Wind River Canyon near Boysen Dam. Traffic delays of up to 20 minutes are expected during the work. Rock scaling and cleanup are part of the effort being undertaken by Geovert of Broomfield, Colo., with assistance from Wyoming Department of Transportation maintenance workers. At the April 19 Hot Springs County Travel & Tourism board meeting held at the Quality Inn, Director Jackie Dorothy presented the financial report as Treasurer Audra Dominguez was unable to attend.
