    At the June Hot Springs County Travel and Tourism board meeting held at the County Historical Museum, Treasurer Audra Dominguez gave the financial report. Their most recent lodging tax revenue deposit of $17,792.08 was another record-breaking amount. This particular amount is from February, three months earlier. This year’s lodging tax revenue is $1,532.35 more than the previous year at this time and is a 9% positive change. The current total lodging tax revenue for 2022-2023 is $209,267.83. T...

  • Funds requested for golf course repair, maintenance

    At the June 20 Thermopolis Town Council meeting held at the Town Hall, during citizen participation, Kevin Simpson, President of the Golf Board, requested additional funds for the repair and maintenance of the golf course.     The Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department is preparing for their Independence Day fireworks show on Tuesday, July 4, beginning just after it becomes dark.     Suzanne Samelson, President of Main Street Thermopolis, and her husband Howie, board member, presented their quarterly report to both the Hot Springs County Commissioners and to the Thermopolis Town Council on June 20 at their respective meetings.   • High water at Boysen causes temporary closures of a limited number of areas

    High water in Boysen Reservoir has caused flooding in areas and prompted park officials to temporarily close a small number of campsites and day-use areas. Portions of Tough Creek and Tamarask campgrounds have been affected by the flooding but other campgrounds remain open. Park staff have notified those with reservations affected by the flooding and relocated them to other campgrounds or canceled if necessary. Hot Springs County Weed and Pest has treated areas in Kirby, Lucerne, Owl Creek and other areas. They have started setting up adult traps, to determine areas to be fogged. Fogging operations are based on weather and adult mosquito counts per area surveyed.     A rainy and cold start to the 2023 Annual Hot Springs County 4-H Shooting Sports Camp did not stop all the participants from having fun.
