The saloon will be open at the Hot Springs County Museum for three days only during the PRCA rodeo the last weekend in June. Drinks will be served at the Hole-in-the-Wall Bar.

“It seemed a shame to deny citizens and visitors the opportunity to stand at the bar with a drink in hand,” museum board member Mike Berry explained. “This is what brought this whole idea about in the first place.”

Guests will get a chance to buy beer, whiskey, wine or even Sarsaparilla in a unique event sponsored by the Hot Springs County Museum and VFW Post 2281 in Thermopolis.

This is the same bar that Butch Cassidy and his Hole-in-the-Wall gang enjoyed back in their Outlaw days when they were taking a break from robbing banks and trains.

“We are celebrating our Outlaw heritage,” museum chair Doris Ann Ready said, “It’s a chance for visitors to experience getting a drink slid to them across the same bar that Butch Cassidy often stood at.”

Berry is also the Quartermaster for the local VFW chapter and said that the event is also a great opportunity for people to support local history and their veterans.

You can ‘wet your whistle’ on June 23-25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free admission is being offered to the museum for all three days and We’ve Got Your Six Portions food truck will be on hand Friday and Sunday.

The museum is located at 700 Broadway Street. For more information, call 864-5183.
