    The annual Thermopolis Demolition Derby will be Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds, beginning at 6 p.m. The derby this year is expected to bring a bigger crowd since it’s happening just a couple days before the eclipse. Gates will open to car entries at 12 p.m., and to the public at 4 p.m. Those who want to compete must pay a $75 fee, which includes entry and up to two pit crew members.     A series of stargazing and solar viewing programs beginning Friday, Aug. 18 are featured at Boysen State Park during the Great American Eclipse weekend. All programs will take place at the Tough Creek Campground and Lakeside Area.     A trek to Blonde Pass scheduled two weeks ago by the Hot Springs County Historical Society and Pioneer Association was unfortunately cancelled due to weather.     The open enrollment period for new students at Ralph Witters Elementary will be Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 9-11 a.m. at the elementary school office. The enrollment is for students in kindergarten through fourth grade. To enroll, students must be age 5 by Sept. 15, 2017. Parents should bring with them birth certificates and shot records. Though the necessary documents could be brought at a later time, incoming kindergartners cannot start unless the office has their birth certificate....
