    Tuesday’s meeting of the Thermopolis Town Council was short and right to the point. Mayor Mike Mortimore led the council through the usual formalities. Several citizens were present to discuss a variety of issues. Damien Oliver was present for One Eyed Buffalo to address a dispensing change for the restaurant. There was a need to change the verbiage of one of the two liquor licenses the restaurant has. The new change will state they will dispense alcohol from an enclosed room.     The Hot Springs County High School’s Bobcat speech and debate team kicked off their season Nov. 2. While the team will not be traveling to tournaments until January, coach Cindy Glasson said the next few weeks will be spent choosing pieces for interpretation and writing cases for debaters.     Sign ups for the 2015 Community Christmas Baskets are going on now at the H.O.P.E. Agency at 426 Big Horn Street. Last year, the program provided more than 100 boxes of food to families in need throughout the community with the help of volunteers, organizations and businesses in Thermopolis.     Bill Sniffin will be holding a book signing at Storyteller Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m. Sniffin recently published the final book in his Wyoming Trilogy, “Wyoming at 125: Our Place in the West.” The book features over 50 historic black and white Wyoming photos turned into modern-looking four-color images.     A clothing drive is planned for Dec. 16 and 17 in the commons of Hot Springs County High School. The clothing drive has been set up for people to donate their clean, gently used clothing before Dec. 10. On Dec. 16 and 17 anyone can come to the commons and pick out clothes for themselves from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. You can pick up clothing even if you have not donated clothes.     The Walter Manly Haynes Memorial, dedicated to the first Hot Springs County resident to die as a serviceman on foreign soil, was rededicated Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day. The memorial was originally dedicated in 1927, but in the years since it has gone unnoticed and most Thermopolis residents do not even know it is a monument to Haynes.
