    Thursday night at the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce regular meeting, the chamber board voted to move forward with the proposed idea for its 2018 vacation getaway fundraiser. Though previous years have seen a grand prize of one trip, this year things are changing up a bit with a total four prizes offered.     The Hot Springs County Recreation District Turkey Hoop Shoot is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 16 at the armory. Students from second grade up to age 15 can participate, and the fee is a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Holiday Baskets program. The shoot is made up of two timed competitions. On one end of the court, there are various places to stand, each worth a different amount of points for baskets made.     The Thermopolis Gun Club Turkey Shoot scheduled for this past Saturday was cancelled due to lack of participation. Cynthia Garbin explained the event, scheduled to begin at 1 a.m. at the Bob Milek range didn’t really see anyone until 12:30, when it was decided to cancel. Prizes from the turkey shoot included a turkey for the top five-person squads in shotgun and pistol competitions, with shoot offs in the event of a tie.     During the regular meeting of Hot Springs Travel and Tourism on Tuesday afternoon, Director Amanda Moeller informed the board of the receipt of a technical assistance grant for $5,000, which will be utilized to help reduce costs to the board for a conference with Young Strategies Inc.     The Wyoming Republican Party’s State Central Committee will meet this Friday and Saturday, November 17 and 18, at the Days Inn in Thermopolis. The business session will be Saturday, starting at 8 a.m., in the Days Inn’s meeting rooms. The Central Committee will discuss plans for the 2018 campaign season. Meetings are open to the public.     Due to incorrect information provided to the Independent Record regarding water quality through the South Thermopolis Water and Sewer District, the article running in this week’s paper indicates the water quality is much worse than it actually is.
