    Right now, conditions are perfect for floating the Big Horn River, but its always smart to follow a few precautions to ensure you enjoy your day. The river is currently running at about 2,500 cubic feet per second (cfs) which will make your float about three hours long from the Wedding of the Waters to the Eighth Street bridge.   • Main Street projects in the works

    There are some great things going on with Main Street Thermopolis that folks will be able to see for themselves, hopefully by this fall. The group recently received a pair of grants totaling $6,876 to help with a couple of projects downtown that they’ve been wanting to get going on.   • Chamber selects nomination committee

    To prepare for board elections, the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce board selected the nomination committee of Amanda Kraushaar, Greg Willson and Phil Scheel at their July meeting. Chamber Executive Director Meri Ann Rush explained the committee’s job will be to present a slate of at least four people to run for the board, during the August board meeting.   • Red Lane approves budget

    Tuesday evening, the Red Lane Watershed Improvement District Board of Directors, consisting of Harold Hutson, Melanie Valentine and Tom Ream, approved the proposed fiscal year 2018-19 budget. According to the budget, revenues include $7,000 in tax levy and $20 in miscellaneous, which includes interest in accounts.   • Liberty Quartet returning to Thermopolis

    The Liberty Quartet is returning to perform two concerts in Thermopolis at the Federated Community Church on Sunday, Aug. 12, at the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. A free will offering will be taken to support their ministry. The quartet began as part of a church in Boise, Idaho. In 1997 they began doing concerts full time.   • Firemen do walk through at schools

    The Hot Springs County School District is following through on their committment to keeping our children safe at school. One of the items that was on their list was a walk-through of the buildings with the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department to ensure they know where everything is in each of the buildings. Maintenance Supervisor Jere Apland took the firefighters through the high school at the end of May.     Next week, the Hot Springs State Park Pavilion will again be home to the Sounds of Summer concert series. So far this summer the park has been home to rock, country and even a military band.
