    Sage grouse and their habitat are in the limelight once again as newly elected Governor Mark Gordon agreed with conservationists last week who say it is Wyoming’s authority to require developers to make up for impacts to greater sage grouse habitat.     Last week saw the middle school boys basketball teams face off against Riverton on Thursday, Jan. 31. The eighth grade team came away with a 49-28 loss. Coach Ryan Shaffer said, “Although the score doesn’t show it, this was a very good game for us. We came out sluggish in the first quarter and gave up a 17-point lead.     Will Ward leads his steer from the chute after fair board member Arnold Pennoyer tagged it on Sunday. The 4-H and FFA youth of Hot Springs County were required to bring their steers in to be weighed and tagged with a Wyoming State Fair RFID (radio-frequency identification) tag in order for them to be able to show and sell their animals at county fair.     Business out at the airport picked up considerably during January according to a report received by the Hot Springs County Commissioners from FBO Nate Messenger at their Tuesday meeting. According to Messenger, there were 216 total operations at the airport during January including seven twin engine turbo prop aircraft, six single engine turbo props, one twin engine piston aircraft and 94 single engine piston.
