Levi Patrick King, 19, passed away on March 12, 2018 in Riverton, Wyo. Levi was born on July 2, 1998, in Thermopolis, son of Patrick Daniel and Rebecca Irene (Hatcher) King. His family moved to Fremont County when Levi was 3 years old. He attended Lincoln Elementary and Riverton Middle School before graduating from Riverton High School in 2016. If you have a child between kindergarten and eighth grade who loves to cheer on our hometown Bobcats, there is a camp designed especially for them. The Bobcat Cheer Camp is open to students wishing to learn the basics of cheerleading and wanting to be able to cheer at a boys varsity basketball game. The camp will take place from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the high school gym. The Thermopolis Middle School wrestlers competed at the Cody Invite Saturday. "Our wrestlers have improved leaps and bounds since the start of the season," said coach Toby Emery. He added "The boys are more conditioned, have displayed better technique on the mat, and shown more heart when it comes down to finishing close matches." The Thermopolis Bobcat Speech and Debate team returned home from the Camel Classic in Gillette with a second place finish. Seven members of the team attended the two-day tournament with a few bringing home personal wins to go along with the team trophy. For the second tournament in a row, Kameron Olsen moved into the final round of Lincoln Douglas (LD) debate undefeated. During last week’s meeting of the Hot Springs County Commissioners, Martin Bader, Tom Christensen and Arnold Pennoyer brought forward concerns about the fairground’s Multi-Purpose (MP) Building roof, which was replaced by Atlas Roofing in 2013. The MP building was in need of a new roof a few years after an addition was added to allow for more room inside. With the life of the former Hot Springs County Airport coming to an end, the County Commissioners are seeking public input on a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application. The commissioners are applying for the grant to pay for a study to determine redevelopment options for the former airport. A public hearing will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. at the County Annex at 114 North 4th Street. The Bobcat Speech and Debate team started their season out with a second place finish at the Kelly Walsh Invitational last weekend in Casper. In spite of illness taking its toll on the number of students able to attend, several on the team had an excellent first meet.
