Those who were up early enough Sunday morning might have spied the launch of a hot air balloon from Whitt Field, flown by Cameron Wagner. The balloon traveled for about three hours, coming down at 9:30 a.m. west of the highway to Cody. At the monthly meeting of the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director Meri Ann Rush presented a proposed budget for the fiscal year 2016-17. Eight boys and eight girls from Hot Springs County High School traveled to Casper to compete at the Track and Field State Championships May 19-21. Coach Ernie Mecca commended both teams for making a tremendous effort during the three-day meet. On Memorial Day, those who travel up to Monument Hill Cemetery could be greeted with an abundance of the Stars and Stripes, as 2016 marks the inaugural year for Hawk's Avenue of Flags. It was another weekend of broken records and high scoring for the Bobcats, as they competed at the Regional Track Championships in Lander last Friday and Saturday. The boys team came home champions, winning with a total of 124 points.
