Register now for 3-on-3 tourney

This Friday, May 20, marks the registration deadline for the Hot City Summer Slam 3-on-3 basketball tournament over Memorial Day weekend. This year the Bobcat Boosters are heading up the event, with monies generated going back to the students at Hot Springs County High School.

The tourney will be at the high school parking lot, and activities director Brandon Deromedi noted Tuesday there are currently 11 vendors, which will be set up at nearby LeRoy Hayes Memorial Stadium.

Deromedi said the signup deadline has to be a hard one, because time is needed to allow for bracketing. Team registrations postmarked by May 20 will be allowed, and registration forms can be found at the front offices at the high school or middle School.

Teams can also register via the "Thermopolis Threeonthree" Facebook page.

The tournament is double-elimination style. Divisions are by age, with: 11 and Up, 12 and Up, 13 and Up, 14 and Up 15 and Up, 16 and Up, 17 and Up, 18-30, and 30 and Up. Ages of team members might vary, but teams will play in the division of the oldest member. Each team is also allowed two substitutions.

There will be a team check-in Friday, May 27 at 6 p.m. at the high school, with the tournament scheduled for Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29. Play begins at 9 a.m. each day.

Champions in each division for ages 17 and under will receive basketballs, and those in the adult divisions will receive shirts.
