In Hot Springs District Court Monday,34-year-old Matthew Schwan pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated homicide by vehicle. He was originally charged with driving under the influence with serious bodily injury following a May 14 incident in which he allegedly ran over Reilly Schwan following an argument. On Sunday at 2:12 p.m., the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire off of West Sunnyside Lane. Chief Mark Collins said the fire, which burned about 7.5 acres, started after a transformer arced when a bird flew into it. There was also some fencing on an adjacent property damaged. Lola Vialpando, 34, is currently charged with 13 counts related to forgery and thefts that resulted in a $157,593.24 loss. According to court documents, Vialpando faces 10 counts of felony forgery, one count of felony larceny and two counts of felony theft. The Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office and Thermopolis Police Department teamed up Monday at about 7:50 p.m. to stop a driver coming into town at over 100 miles per hour. Sheriff Lou Falgoust said Deputy Daniel Eggli clocked a red 2005 Toyota Corolla travelling 109 mph at mile marker 1 on Highway 120, and turned around to give pursuit.
