Speeding driver arrested Monday evening

The Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office and Thermopolis Police Department teamed up Monday at about 7:50 p.m. to stop a driver coming into town at over 100 miles per hour.

Sheriff Lou Falgoust said Deputy Daniel Eggli clocked a red 2005 Toyota Corolla travelling 109 mph at mile marker 1 on Highway 120, and turned around to give pursuit. The deputy further requested assistance in stopping the vehicle.

Falgoust noted, however, this was not a pursuit case. They simply wanted to get the vehicle stopped, and with the assistance of Police Officer Ken Smith they did just that, at 11th and Clark. Arrested was 54-year-old Keith Lance, for alleged second-offense driving under the influence, reckless driving, open container and speeding.
