    Following on a trend, the Hot Springs County High School volleyball team played away and home games last week, facing the Lady Bulldogs in Lovell on Thursday, and then the Cougars of Wind River for Homecoming on Saturday. Going into the match, Lovell was ranked number three among Class 3A teams, and their level of play displayed how they come by their ranking.     The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat and Lady Cat cross country teams traveled to Powell last week to compete in the Pinnacle Bank Powell Invitational. The event will serve as a final tune-up for the conference finals, which will be held at Wyoming Indian on Friday. In Powell, the team continued to set some remarkable splits times, reflecting that the athletes are hitting their season peak physical condition at just the right time.     On Friday night the Lyman Eagles rolled into town to challenge Hot Springs County at Leroy Hayes Field. It was Homecoming week and the Bobcats were looking to extend their win streak. Sporting their all purple uniforms, the Cats put on a great show for the home town faithful, and secured a 14-7 win over the Eagles. Lyman won the toss, and elected to defer to the Bobcats.   • Hospital board looks to replace foundation director

    The Hot Springs Health Board of Directors met on September 30, 2025 for their regular monthly meeting, and recognized nurse Paula Whitt. Whitt was nominated to represent Hot Springs Health in the Wyoming Hospital Association’s annual Norman Holt Award competition. The competition recognizes excellence in nursing throughout the State of Wyoming.     The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat and Lady Cat cross country teams hosted their annual Bobcat Invite on Friday, October 3. Scheduling conflicts with an event being held in Cody the same day caused just one other varsity team to appear for the event in Thermopolis.     Last week, the Hot Springs County High School volleyball team, once again, played home and away matches. On Friday, October 3 the team met up with the Lady Grizz of Rocky Mountain and then traveled on Saturday to Powell to face off with a very talented Class 3A team in the Lady Panthers.     The Travel & Tourism Board met for their September meeting and discussed that representatives from the Wyoming Office of Tourism were in town for a tour of local attractions, and were in attendance at the board’s meeting. Last month, the board had discussed establishing a project to create and install wayfinding signage in Thermopolis, and at their meeting, the Board continued those discussions.     The Hot Springs County School Board met on September 18 for their regular monthly meeting. The board took up the issue of the board vacancy, which will occur due to the resignation of trustee Justin Budd, which will become effective on October 1, 2025. Budd advised that he has been offered an opportunity to work overseas, and that he and his family will be leaving the state.     The Hot Springs County High School volleyball team welcomed a number of 1A and 2A teams to Thermopolis last weekend as half of the Western Wyoming Volleyball Challenge event.
