On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Wednesday, April 18

2:21 p.m. Report of a scam, in which an individual was contacted about his cell phone locking up and was told to send money in the form of gift cards.

7:35 p.m. Report of a vehicle parked on the side of the road near mile marker 123 on Highway 20 South. It was brought to the deputy’s attention the vehicle was taken without permission and it was impounded. It was further learned the driver had been given a ride from the location.

Friday, April 20

7:08 p.m. REDDI report from the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office. The subject could not be located.

Saturday, April 21

10:04 a.m. Complaint about a tractor swerving into an opposite lane of traffic and running a vehicle off the road.

1:34 p.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle at the old airport, reportedly on the runway. The driver was located and stated he was teaching a juvenile to drive. The driver was advised the airport is private property.

10:51 p.m. Report of a suspicious male subject walking along Highway 20 South in the canyon. The subject was advised of the dangers of walking through the canyon at night and he accepted a ride to the county line.

Monday, April 22

11:39 a.m. A deputy responded to an issue north of town regarding neighbors not getting along. A subject was cited for breach of peace.

Wednesday, April 18

2:12 a.m. Report of heavy smoke. The officer was unable to locate any fires.

1:04 p.m. Complainant was concerned about how a subject was driving. The driver was contacted and was not intoxicated.

5:50 p.m. Report of an American flag being taken from a mount and left in a driveway.

8:29 p.m. Subject called in to report a planned controlled burn and was advised such things are not allowed in town.

Friday, April 20

1:08 p.m. Report of a lost wallet.

Saturday, April 21

3:12 p.m. Following a traffic stop, Jonathan T. Utecht was arrested on a bench warrant out of Platte County.

5:04 p.m. Report of theft, though officers found signs of unauthorized entry but nothing missing.

Sunday, April 22

1:09 a.m. Report of intoxicated subjects at a hotel. The subjects later returned to their rooms.

8:34 a.m. Officer assisted with a Probation and Parole warrant and Veaceslav Sinchetru was arrested.

9:12 a.m. Officer assisted with a Probation and Parole warrant and Ambra O’Brien was arrested.

5:19 p.m. A traffic stop resulted in a subject being cited for possession of marijuana.

Circuit court

Alicea Jones was bound over to district court on three counts of child where meth stored, ingested or possessed, one count of possession of a controlled narcotic, 11 counts of possession of a controlled substance and four counts of use of a controlled substance.
