Peggy Ann Lunt

Peggy Ann Lunt, 86, passed away on January 27, 2026, at Deer Trail Assisted Living in Rock Springs, Wyo. She was a resident of Sweetwater County for 42 years.

Peggy was born on September 8, 1939, in Thermopolis, Wyo., the daughter of Carl and Alta (McGarvin) Johnson.

She graduated from Hot Springs County High School. Following graduation she began working as a telephone operator and also waitressed. Peggy married Jim Thornburg on October 26, 1956, in Billings, Mont., and together they had four children. They later divorced.

Peggy married Gene Lunt on October 8, 1975, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and they made their home in Rock Springs, Wyo. Gene preceded her in death on March 17, 2013. While in Rock Springs, Peggy worked at Walmart for 22 years (1997-2019) and retired at the age of 80.

Peggy enjoyed spending her free time sewing, reading, knitting, and crocheting.

She is survived by her sons, Shawn Thornburg and James Todd (Thornburg) Lunt; daughters, Shelly Fish (John) and Lisa Ryberg (Clark Stith); beloved grandchildren, Ashley (David) Hufferd, Amber (Bob) Kimes, Morgan (Andy) Johnson, Dolan (Shae) Wire and Jaxon Ryberg; 13 great-grandchildren; and many bonus grands.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; six brothers and sisters, and her infant son.

Memorial services will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
