Emory Robert Blakesley

1954-2026

Emory Robert Blakesley, 71, of Thermopolis Wyo., passed away on January 9, 2026.

Emory was born on April 24, 1954, to Audrey (Brunk) Blakesley and Alvin "Johnny" Blakesley in Thermopolis where he lived all of his life. He was a devoted husband to Debbie Blakesley and loving father to his children, Brandon (Jennie) Blakesley and Megan (James) Diekemper. He was also a devoted and loving Grandpa to his grandsons, Jayden, Mason and Colton, and as he put it his beautiful granddaughter, Morgan.

Emory lived a very dedicated life to his family and his career. After approximately 40 years of working in the oil field he retired at the age of 65. Emory never wanted to be the center of attention, and often resisted having his picture taken. He was always a loving and constant presence to everyone in his family. He enjoyed his family time, camping, hunting, and fishing. Emory was an avid Broncos fan through the good times and the bad.

He is survived by his wife; children; grandchildren; brother, Jay (Colleen) Blakesley, sisters, Lynn (Wes) Paschall, Becky Lawyer, Jackie (Dave) Shaffer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Virgil Love; brothers, Lonnie Blakelsey and Melvin Love; and one brother-in-law, Elden Lawyer.

Services will be held in Thermopolis at Mortimore Funeral Home, 620 Arapahoe, on Friday, January 16 at 10 a.m., with internment at Monument Hill Cemetery. Immediately after, there will be a lunch held at the Thermopolis Fire Hall where we can share some memories and celebrate Emory's life and what he meant to us all.

In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department in Emory's memory.
