Historical Society program

The May 10 meeting of the Hot Springs County Historical Society will feature a program on the Wyoming Bomber Crash of 1943 by Sylvia Bruner, Executive Director of the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum in Buffalo. The meeting starts at 2 p.m. with the program to follow. The meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 864-2678.

Tea time with mom

On Saturday, May 10 at the Hot Springs County Senior Center there will be a Tea time with Mom event beginning at 1:30 p.m. Come join them for cold/hot tea, coffee, and finger food. Sons and daughters, bring your Moms. Suggested attire for the occasion include spring dresses, hats, gloves, and pearls or come as you are. Bring your best tea cup to proudly show off. They will be giving out door prizes for best dressed, most outstanding hat, and best tea cup. Please RSVP by calling the center at 864-2151.

Law Enforcement memorial tribute

The Hot Springs County Sheriff’s office is hosting a Memorial Service to honor and pay tribute to those in law enforcement who have given their lives in the course of duty. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. on May 14 at the flag pole at the Law Enforcement Center. A wreath laying ceremony will follow at Riverside then Monument Hill Cemeteries. Dinner will be held at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center, 206 Senior Ave.

Figure 8 Races

Stars and Pipes is hosting Figure 8 Racing at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 10. Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Purchase tickets in advance at 307starsandpipes.com or they are available at the gate.

Hole-in-the-Wall tour

Enjoy a day at the Hole-in-the-Wall with Clay Gibbons as your host and tour guide. You will see a 1500-year-old Indian Trail, the site and story of the Hole-in-the-Wall fight, an opportunity to climb to the top of the Hole, visit the site of the original Hole-in-the-Wall cabin and hear stories of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and the Johnson County War. We meet at the Quality Inn of the south side of Thermopolis, Wyoming at 7:30 am on Saturday, May 24. The cost is $75 per person. Bring your lunch and plenty to drink.  Pay that morning and bring 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicles. Very little walking needed but guests will have the opportunity to hike to the top of the Hole. Beer ’N Brats

Central Bank and Trust and their partners will be holding their Beer ’N Brats Community Appreciation Event on Thursday, May 29 starting a 5:30 p.m. at the Kiwanis Shelter in Hot Springs State Park. The dinner is free and there will be cornhole games and door prizes. Donations are welcome not required. They will be giving the donations to Memorial Avenue of Flags. Tea Party Fundraiser at Washakie Museum & Cultural Center

The Eden Rose Foundation is hosting a Tea Party Fundraiser on Saturday, May 31 from 2-4 p.m. at the Washakie Museum & Cultural Center. The Lockard family formed the Eden Rose Foundation in 2022 after the tragic loss of their daughter at birth due to primary pulmonary hypertension of a newborn. The Foundation is dedicated to improving neonatal care by equipping rural medical flight teams with essential equipment, providing training for healthcare providers, and offering financial support to families in need.
