All class reunion planned for July

The Thermopolis/Hot Springs County High School Alumni Association invites all classmates to register for Reunion Weekend, July 18-20. This year’s gathering is for classmates of years ending in 0 or 5, however all classes are welcomed. So far, classes 1970, 1975, 1985, and 2005 have contacted the association.

Regarding the registration process, organizer Shasta Shafer asks for those interested in participating to contact her at 307-258-9861 or email her at thsallclassreunion@gmail.com to receive a registration form that you will mail back with payment of $10. Anyone who is interested in coordinating their class can reach out to Shafer.

Shafer said they are doing things differently this year. First, classes will have their own organizer that will help coordinate things individually for each class. This means meals, locations and their costs will be set specific to their class and will vary.

On Saturday, July 19, classmates can gather at the VFW for socializing and drinks. The $10 registration fee pays for the DJ and music starts at 8 p.m., which ends at midnight. Shafer said that they are currently working on booking the DJ.

Also, for the picnic on Sunday, July 20 at the Kiwanis Shelter in the Hot Springs State Park, they will have a variety of food trucks for lunch. There is no set price for lunch, each person will pay the food trucks. They will serve food at 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Shafer added, “I’m just excited. Sometimes it’s fun to try something new and see if it works. And if it doesn’t, we can adjust and go back to the old ways or try something new the next year. We’re going to try this year with the food trucks and a couple of different things, trying to make it just a fun weekend for everyone and just not a lot of work for the people that are involved. We want to try to make it as easy as possible and just a great, memorable weekend for everybody to come together and enjoy each other’s company.”
