On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Monday, Jan. 29

7:21 p.m. Deputies investigating a bond violation in the 400 block of Arapahoe Street.

Tuesday, Jan. 30

10:03 a.m. Report of a prisoner transport to Shoshoni conducted by the Sheriff.

1:12 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

9:46 p.m. Khristopher Devon Jacobs, 31, was arrested for alleged battery and criminal trespass. A 37-year-old male from Idaho Falls, Idaho, was cited for simple assault. 

Wednesday, Jan. 31

3:05 p.m. Two abandoned vehicles were towed after being tagged by the Police Department. 

7:13 p.m. Deputies investigated a report of a suspicious person that was loitering near apartments and looking into windows in the 100 block of North D Avenue.

Friday, Feb. 2

11:46 a.m. Report of a pony that was caught in a cattle guard with a broken right rear leg. The pony was moved to another location to be put down.

1:01 p.m. Agency assist for Game and Fish where a 65-year-old male was cited for possession of a controlled substance.

6:33 p.m. Agency for the Police Department.

11:08 p.m. A noise complaint was in the 100 block of East Warren Street. Deputies assisted a male whose dogs had gotten into a fight.  

Saturday, Feb. 3

2:54 p.m. Juvenile problem involving a mother who wanted her daughter to move in with her.

10:56 p.m. Report of a large boulder in the Wind River Canyon at mile marker 123 on Highway 20 South.

Sunday, Feb. 4

4:37 p.m. A rancher on Buffalo Creek Road reported there were some teenagers on his property. Deputies made contact and six males juveniles, were all given trespass notices.

Monday, Jan. 29

9:12 a.m. Michael Mariner, 36, was arrested on a warrant for alleged felony possession of a controlled substance, marijuana. 

1:13 p.m. Report of an elderly male walking alone and the caller was concerned about his safety. The subject’s family member was contacted and forwarded the concern. 

Tuesday, Jan. 30

7:05 a.m. A 36-year-old male and a 35-year-old male were reported as walking from East Sunnyside into town. Two callers advised the males were walking in the lane of travel. Both individuals were identified, and both were intoxicated. A ride was provided to the 1300 block of Clark. 

10:31 a.m. Jade Mackenzie Anderson, 20, was arrested for alleged felony theft (over $1,000) in the 600 block of South 6th Street. 

12:06 p.m. Report a traffic accident that occurred in the 100 block of South 6th Street at the front curb parking area. 

12:40 p.m. A traffic stop was conducted in the 1000 block of Shoshoni Street where the driver, a 26-year-old female from Casper, was cited for expired registration and driving under suspension 1st offense. 

1:12 p.m. A 29-year-old male who is currently on bond smelled of alcohol while being fingerprinted for a job. An affidavit of probable cause was sent to the County Attorney’s Office. 

9:46 p.m. Agency assist for the Sheriff’s Office.

Wednesday, Jan. 31

10:02 a.m. Report of a 33-year-old male urinating in public. After the investigation the incident was determined to be unfounded. No citation was issued.

3:05 p.m. Report of two abandoned unregistered vehicles that were towed in the 100 block of Fremont Street where a 57-year-old male attempted to interfere with officers’ lawful duties when the tow truck arrived. This male was additionally warned for parking in the alley way in violation of Thermopolis Town Ordinance. The male moved his vehicle to the street without further incident. 

5:06 p.m. Report of a hit-and-run traffic accident in the 600 block of Broadway Street. The matter is still under investigation.

5:34 p.m. Aden James Hunter Murphy, 19, was arrested for alleged theft, $1,000 or more, felony status.

Thursday, Feb. 1

1:31 p.m. A 52-year-old female was issued a citation for first offense dog at large. 

5:07 p.m. Gerald Frazer, 70, was arrested in the 300 block of South 2nd Street on a bond warrant issued out of Hot Springs County for a bond violation, failure to check in. 

7:43 p.m. Travis Aaron Hatch, 27, was contacted in the 300 block of North 6th Street and arrested on a bench warrant out of Hot Springs County. During this contact, a 28-year-old female was also contacted and fled the scene when Hatch was being detained. An affidavit of probable cause for the female was filed for an arrest warrant for a bond violation and interference with a police officer. 

Friday, Feb. 2

11:40 a.m. Megan Bird, 28, was arrested in the 400 block of Big Horn Street on two warrants out of Hot Springs County for a bond violation.

6:33 p.m. Patrick Scott Arends, 45, was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence, second offense.

Sunday, Feb. 4

4:36 p.m. Report of a welfare check. A male was found deceased.

Circuit Court

Tyler Winsor, driving while license canceled, suspended, or revoked if not suspended for 31-5-229 or 31-5-233, fees and fines $450.

Christopher Mikels, breach of peace, fees and fines $300.

Birth

Kainin Kraushaar was born at 7:07 a.m. at Hot Springs Health on Saturday, January 20, 2024 to Jasmine Garcia and Lucas Kraushaar.

He weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces, and was 18.5 inches long.

Grandparents are Angela English/Rene Garcia and Roger and Lavita Kraushaar.
