On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Sheriff’s Office

Monday, Jan. 22

2:52 p.m. Deputies responded to a report of two cows on the highway. The cows were put back in their pasture and WYDOT was made aware of a damaged section of fence to repair. 

5:06 p.m. An 85-year-old male was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver’s license.

10:37 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

Thursday, Jan. 25

3:39 p.m. Ambra Spring O’Brien, 37, was arrested on a District Court Bench Warrant and an alleged possession of a controlled substance, a 3rd offense. 

Friday, Jan. 26

3:05 p.m. David Christopher Kelly, 47, was placed in the detention center as a hold for Park County, where he is being sent to Fremont County.

4:38 p.m. Report of a violation of a court order involving a 42-year-old female who was released on a four hour furlow to move out of a home under eviction. Upon return to the detention center, the female was found to be presumptive positive for meth and marijuana. 

6:06 p.m. A dog was located walking on Highway 20 North. The reporting party brought the dog to a family member’s home until the owner was able to retrieve the dog. 

Saturday, Jan. 27

10:52 a.m. Report of a strong smell of possible H2S gasses on the highway. Local oil field employees responded to the area with testing equipment and found no traceable H2S gas on the highway.

 

Police Department

Monday, Jan. 22

8:03 a.m. A 17-year-old male provided a urinalysis which returned presumptive positive for THC.

11:16 a.m. The Police Department responded to the 800 block of Warren Street for the report of four dogs running at large. The dogs were captured and returned to the owner. The female owner was warned. 

3:35 p.m. Agency assist for the Department of Family Service with suspected abuse of a vulnerable adult that occurred in the 300 block of North 6th Street. 

10:37 p.m. Report of an attempted vehicle theft from an unknown person wearing gloves and a black ski mask in the 1300 block of Amoretti Street. The matter is under investigation. 

Tuesday, Jan. 23

7:39 p.m. Travis Hatch, 29, was arrested on a failure to appear warrant out of Washakie County for pending fines on a 1st offense DUI and allegedly operating a motor vehicle with an obstructed view and no insurance. 

Wednesday, Jan. 24

11:28 a.m. A traffic stop was performed in the 100 block of South 10th Street where the 37-year-old male driver was cited for possession of a controlled substance, no insurance, and improper turn. 

6:56 p.m. A 47-year-old female was cited for not having a driver’s license.

7:32 p.m. Police made contact with a 33-year-old male, in the 400 block of South 6th Street after witnessing him operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. The male was cited for driving while suspended. A licensed driver retrieved the vehicle. 

Thursday, Jan. 25

1:57 p.m. Report of found property involving a women’s wallet. Police made contact with the owner who is in Arizona. The female will retrieve it when she returns to Pavilion in April. The wallet was lost approximately 1 1/2 years ago. 

Friday, Jan. 26

10:07 a.m. Report of a two vehicle crash in the Hot Spring State Park where the driver of a vehicle had stopped in the middle of the roadway and backed up to look at the springs. While backing up, the driver crashed into a State Park’s backhoe that was traveling behind it and had to abruptly stop behind the car. A report was created, and no injuries occurred. 

10:40 a.m. A female was contacted in the 1300 block of Clark Street after a complaint was made about the overwhelming odor of animal droppings in the backyard. The female was advised of the nuisance and informed by law enforcement she should speak with the other renters in the house and work on cleaning it up. 

1:17 p.m. A female reported her male neighbor getting in his unregistered vehicle and racing it around the block, carelessly driving and revving the engine up just prior to parking it in front of her house instead of his own. This vehicle was found to have expired plates and was parked on the public street. This vehicle was tagged for abandonment and a report documenting the behavior was created. 

3:52 p.m. A 45-year-old male was trespassed from a property in the 600 block of Park Street.

5:09 p.m. A bond check was performed on a 45-year-old male who provided a urinary analysis indicating he was presumptive positive for multiple controlled substances. An affidavit will be created and sent to the county attorney’s office. 

6:18 p.m. Report of a male who verbally threatened a female. This incident is under investigation. 

Saturday, Jan. 27

5:10 a.m. Report of dogs barking loudly in the 1400 block of Fremont Street. The male dog owner has been cited previously for this issue and is scheduled for a court trial for previous animal ordinance violations. 

Sunday, Jan. 28

10:10 a.m. Report of a traffic collision in parking spaces in the 500 block of Broadway Street. 

12:33 p.m. Report of a verbal argument in the 600 block of Maiden Street. 

8:38 p.m. Report of harassment via electronic communication in the 1200 block of Arapahoe Street. 

Circuit Court

Susan Pyle, driving while under the influence of alcohol, incapable of safely driving, first offense within 10 years, three days jail, six months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $220.

James Lee Jansma, duty upon colliding with unattended vehicle or property, first offense, fees and fines $250.

Deanne S. Morgan, interference with a peace officer, 180 days jail, fees and fines $220.

Christopher J. Slagle, possession of a controlled substance, 60 days jail, 60 days suspended, six months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $220.

Birth

Atticus Alger was born Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 8:20 a.m. at Hot Springs Health to Shila Little and Jeremiah Alger.

He weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Grandparents are Kimberly Little, Shilo Little, Jason Alger and Julie McClure.
