On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Fire Department

The Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department held its annual elections for officers. They are: Fire Chief Mark Collins, Assistant Chief Bryce Gilbert, Captain Dale Andreen, 1st Lieutenant Cory Johnston, 2nd Lieutenant London Jenks, Secretary James Coates, and Treasurer Jay Erk.

Sheriff’s Office

Monday, Jan. 8

5:27 p.m. Agency assist for the Highway Patrol.

10:41 p.m. Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash in the Wind River Canyon. The driver fled prior to deputies’ arrival, leaving the vehicle at the scene. This case is currently under investigation. 

Tuesday, Jan. 9

4:33 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

Wednesday, Jan. 10

1:12 p.m. Deputies responded to a 911 hang-up.

Thursday, Jan. 11

3:53 p.m. Deputies investigated a report of livestock that were not being fed. 

9:21 p.m. Samuel Dean Bell, 26, from Watuaga, S. D., was arrested for allegedly driving under suspension, 2nd offense and possession of marijuana. 

11:11 p.m. Deputies conducted a traffic stop resulting in the arrest of Justin Jacobs, 46, for allegedly driving while under the Influence. The investigation was taken over by Wyoming Highway Patrol. 

Friday, Jan. 12

11:03 a.m. Agency assist for Probation and Parole with a home check. Andrew Meador, 31, was arrested on an alleged Probation and Parole sanction. 

11:49 a.m. Deputies investigated reports of a citizen hearing knocking on the back of their home. There were no signs of footprints in the snow. The citizen was advised to install home security cameras to help them identify the noises if they chose to. 

10:40 p.m. Citizen assist in the 900 block of Shoshoni Street involving a water pipe burst. Deputies located their water shut off valve. 

11:06 p.m. Citizen assist in the 600 block of Park Street involving a water pipe burst. Deputies located their water shut off valve.

Saturday, Jan. 13

12:22 p.m. Deputies responded to a business in the 600 block of South 6th Street for a report of an alarm. There were no signs of forced entry and all doors were secured. 

7:27 a.m. Deputies took a report of missing property. It was learned that this was a civil dispute between a couple going through a divorce. The reporting party was told this needed to be resolved in court. 

2:36 p.m. Deputies assisted Emergency Medical Services.

4:39 p.m. Deputies opened an investigation into an incident of a minor receiving a tattoo without parental consent. The investigation is ongoing at this time. 

8:32 p.m. An abandoned vehicle was located in a business parking lot. This was identified to be the vehicle from the civil dispute earlier in the day. The reporting party for the civil dispute was told where the vehicle was, and told to take possession of it or it would be towed. 

Sunday, Jan. 14

2:26 p.m. Deputies investigated a single vehicle crash with property damage on Skelton Road.

Monday, Jan. 8

9:25 a.m. Report of an unattended death of a male subject.

Tuesday, Jan. 9

4:33 p.m. A search warrant was executed in the 1300 block Clark Street, where Camille L. Elliott, 22, was arrested for alleged felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and theft of Hot Springs County School District property. A 36-year-old male was also contacted and cited for two misdemeanor possessions of controlled substances. 

Wednesday, Jan. 10

3:35 p.m. Jessica Grace Boedeker, 42, was arrested on a Bench Warrant out of Hot Springs County District Court. 

Thursday, Jan. 11

9:21 p.m. Agency assist involving the Sheriffs Office.

11:11 p.m. Agency assist for the Highway Patrol. 

Friday, Jan. 12

10:12 a.m. Agency assist for the Wyoming Department of Corrections Probation Agents with arresting Gage Edward Maser, 32, for an alleged probation violation. 

12:12 p.m. Report of a bomb threat at the middle school by a 13-year-old female who was suspended for five days.

Saturday, Jan. 13

3:17 p.m. Agency assist for the Department of Family Services.

William Taylor Reed III, unlawful contact: rude, insolent or angry touches without bodily injury, 180 days jail, 179 days suspended, six months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $420.

Joshua R. Lackey, no compulsory auto insurance, second plus offense, fees and fines $570 and driving while license canceled, suspended, or revoked if not suspended, for 31-5-229 or 31-5-233.
