Steven Len Toth

Steven Len Toth passed away on October 23, 2023, at his home in Mesa, Ariz., after facing several health problems. He was born on January 11,1947, in Thermopolis to Louis S. Toth and Alice Ruth Toth. He grew up attending school in Thermopolis and was a proud member of Hot Springs County High School graduating class of 1965. After graduation, he attended Casper College and the University of Wyoming before honorably serving in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1973. After completion of basic training, he attended U.S. Navy service schools in San Diego, Calif. Mr. Toth was assigned to Destroyer Escort Knox DE 1052 in February, 1970, home ported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Following two Western Pacific tours on the Knox, he was transferred to the Guided Missile Frigate USS Worden in February, 1972 home ported in San Diego, Calif. In March,1973, Mr. Toth received an Honorable Discharge and returned home to Wyoming.


Post-military service, Steve resumed his education at the National College of Business in Rapid City, S.D., achieving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in March,1975. He then attended UW where he obtained an MBA in Business Administration. Mr. Toth was an accountant working for the Bechtel Group of Companies, Phelps Dodge Corporation, Scottsdale Conference Resort, Clopay Building Products, and Wincup Holdings. He retired from active employment in 2009 after more than 30 years of dedicated service that took him around the globe.

Mr. Toth was an ardent baseball enthusiast, playing American Legion baseball and managing a Thermopolis Little League team. In 1968, he and his cousin, Leonard Jacobs, managed the Conoco Brite Spot team to the


League Championship. His passion for sports extended to collecting sports memorabilia amassing an impressive collection over the years. A dedicated NASCAR fan, Steve attended numerous NASCAR events around the country.

Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Steve is survived by his brother, Frank (Cindy) Toth; nephew, Alan (Lilly) Toth; Jesse Jo (Scott) Toth-Henderson; great niece, Amelia; and great nephew, Louis.

As per his wishes, private services to celebrate Steve's life will be held at a later date. May his memory continue to be a source of inspiration to all who knew and loved him. The family respectfully asks donations in his memory to go to a Veterans' charity, a food pantry, or to the American Heart Association.
