Lee Rathbun

Lee Rathbun, 60, passed away Tuesday morning after battling colon cancer.

Lee was born August 6, 1963, to Jennie Lee (Haynes) Rathbun and Orin "Bill" Rathbun in Thermopolis, Wyo. He lived in Thermopolis most of his life; except for parts of his childhood when his father was serving in the US Navy. Lee had a good childhood surrounded by close friends that turned into lifetime friends.

He worked most of his adult life on the oil rigs. However, his true passion was cars and mechanic work. He was an ASE certified mechanic and he received his diploma for his course studies in automotive mechanics from the International Correspondence Schools. If you knew Lee, you know he could diagnose your car just by listening to it. He could name the make, model, and year of every single vehicle on the road.

Lee met his 1st love Lucille "Lucy" Balstad and they began dating in 1985. In 1990 they welcomed their son, Joshua, into the world. Three years later they welcomed their daughter, Jodi. On June 17, 2002, Lee and Lucy were married.

Lee is survived by his children, Joshua Rathbun (wife, Holli Smith), and Jodi (Rathbun) Kraushaar (partner, Nick Schilling); and many friends and extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Jennie Lee Rathbun; father, Orin Victor Rathbun; and his wife, Lucy Rathbun.

Lee was so loved and will be dearly missed. The family wants to thank everyone for all of their love & support during this unbelievably difficult time. The family will be holding a memorial service at a later date.
