Dennis Aaron Rush

Dennis Aaron Rush, 79, passed away May 13, 2023, of natural causes in Billings, Mont.

Dennis was born May 6, 1944, in Worland, Wyo., to Clair and Louise (Dockery) Rush. He graduated from high school in Thermopolis, Wyo., in 1962 and married Margo Yonkee in 1964. They moved to Missoula, Mont., in January of 1965 to continue their college work.

Dennis worked many jobs in his lifetime, always with an outdoor component. When he chose outdoor work as his lifetime goal, he interspersed his college work with stints int eh Forest Service both in Wyoming and Montana. He also served two summers as a Park Ranger in Glacier National Park. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Montana in 1969 and began his 25 year career as a Montana Game Warden in 1970. He was first assigned to Glasgow, but was soon moved to Helena. When Malta needed a new game warden in 1973 he requested, and received, this post which he served until retiring in 1995.

Dennis loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was also a good cook.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Danny Joe; and beloved daughter, Retta Johnson.

He is survived by his wife for over 58 years; sons, Damon (Kaye) Rush of Pocatello, Idaho, Darvin Rush of Missoula, Mont., and Jordan (Jenny Peigneux) Rush of Gillete, Wyo.; nine grandchildren’ and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life was held on July 15 in Malta, Mont. A memorial service was held at the cemetery.
