On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Highway Patrol

Wednesday, June 14

10:44 p.m. Jacob Blaine Crackenberger, 27, from Sheridan, was placed in the Detention Center for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol. 

Sheriff’s Office

Monday, June 12

5:48 a.m. Report of a hit and run on Lane 3. The matter is still under investigation.

5:23 p.m. Report of a suspicious camper that had been on BLM land for over a week. The deputy made contact with the 32-year-old male camper owner and told him about the BLM camping rules. 

Tuesday, June 13

10:42 a.m. Report of goats at large on Highway 20 North. The male livestock owner was given a written warning that goats must be fenced in and he would be cited if future offenses occurred. 

7:03 p.m. Report of a 30-year-old male from Michigan who had gotten out of his vehicle and approached the buffalo in Hot Spring State Park. The male said he was trying to get photographs of the buffalo. The male was issued a citation for State Park Rules: preservation - disturbing animals. 

8:45 p.m. A deputy assisted Emergency Medical Services on a call.

9:03 p.m. Report of a dead deer in the lane of travel at mile marker 129 on Highway 20 South. The deer was not located. 

Police Department

Monday, June 12

10:12 p.m. A traffic stop was conducted in the 500 block of South 6th Street for an inoperable headlight. A 47-year-old male passenger from Riverton was cited for an open container of alcohol. 

Tuesday, June 13

3:03 p.m. A 57-year-old male was cited for dog at large.

4:14 p.m. Report of a juvenile male who sent inappropriate photos to a person who then told him he had to send money to them, or the photos would go viral. 

7:03 p.m. Agency assist involving the Sheriff’s Office. 

Wednesday, June 14

9:16 a.m. A female driver backed out of a parking space in the 500 block of Broadway, hitting the vehicle next to her. 

10:25 a.m. A male driver from New Mexico rear-ended two vehicles in the 300 block of South 6th Street. No citations were given.

5:41 p.m. Report of threats involving a 65-year-old male who was cited for breach of peace in the 700 block of South 5th Street. 

8:43 p.m. Carol Corbin, 51, was arrested in the 500 block of South 6th Street for an alleged violation of her probation. 

9:48 p.m. Agency assist for the Highway Patrol.

Thursday, June 15

11:12 a.m. Report of goats being brought into town without a permit in the 1000 block of Broadway Street. The owners are pending citations. 

6:24 p.m. Report of an agency assist involving Highway Patrol on a DUI.

9:16 p.m. A juvenile male was cited for using marijuana. 

Friday, June 16

1:34 p.m. Report of an animal problem involving a dog who found its way home. The dog was put in its kennel and the female owner warned for the dog at large.

Saturday, June 17

10:39 p.m. A 35-year-old female from Colorado was cited for possession of marijuana and speed after the officer conducted a traffic stop for speed in the 1100 block of Broadway Street. 

Sunday, June 18

1:16 a.m. Report of three suspicious subjects walking in an alley in the 1100 block of Arapahoe/Broadway Street The officer was unable to locate the subjects. 

2:45 p.m. Report of lost property at the State Park on June 13 to June 16. The missing items are a titanium bracelet and a fishing tackle box left at the boat dock.

Management

Boysen release flow was increased from 4,500cfs to 5,500 the first part of the week. Reports indicate releases in excess of 6,000cfs may be necessary with higher inflows coming into Boysen from the Wind River.
