It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

5:41 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.
Tuesday, Feb. 28
10:45 a.m. Agency assist involving the Department of Family Services with a home check.
Friday, March 3
9:42 a.m. Report of a Publishers Clearing House scam, no money was lost.
3:34 p.m. A vehicle driven by a 45-year-old male slid into a State of Wyoming vehicle in a parking lot. A state accident report will be completed.
7:04 p.m. Report of a structure fire in the area of West Sunnyside. There were no occupants in the structure. Deputies assisted with traffic control. See separate article.
Saturday, March 4
6:29 p.m. Request for a welfare check for a family reported to be having issues with a juvenile male. Everyone was found to be okay.
11:20 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

12:30 p.m. Deputies assisted emergency medical services with an unresponsive female.

Monday, Feb. 27
5:30 p.m. A male reported a speeding driver and stated it appeared the driver was going approximately 60 mph through town. Police located the 41-year-old male driver, Filimon D. Abing, from Aurora, Colo. Police observed Abing speeding as he traveled northbound on US HWY 20 North at milepost 133, Hospital Hill. Police conducted a traffic stop on Abing and found him to be allegedly impaired by alcohol. Abing was also allegedly found in possession of plant form marijuana and an open container of alcohol. Abing was arrested and transported to the detention center.
Tuesday, Feb. 28
12:21 p.m. A female contacted police regarding Valentine’s Day items left on her doorstep. She believed a male neighbor left the items. She said this action scared her and she wanted the male trespassed from her property. Police made contact with the male and advised him to leave the female alone. The Valentine’s Day items were returned to the male neighbor.
2:08 p.m. Cassandra Collins, 34, from Colorado, was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Hot Springs County. The original charges are unknown.
9:41 p.m. A female contacted the police regarding harassing phone calls she received late at night from her female neighbor. This phone call was regarding a parking issue where one neighbor was allegedly parking in front of the other neighbor’s home. The police made contact with the female and asked her to stop calling the neighbor.
Thursday, March 2
9 a.m. A female reported someone had gone into her room and put her clothes in a laundry basket in the hall. The female suspected another male tenant of doing this. The officer spoke to the suspected male and couldn’t tell if he understood or not.
1:29 p.m. A local business owner reported they found what appeared to be drug paraphernalia within their property. Police arrived and confirmed the items located were drug paraphernalia. Police seized the items and will be processing the items for fingerprints.
Friday, March 3
8:38 a.m. Report of a possible sex offense involving juveniles and an adult. The case is still under investigation.
11:21 p.m. Kevin M. Jones, 49, Littleton, Colo., was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol within the 800 block of Shoshoni Street and for allegedly not using a turn signal.
8:30 p.m. Police conducted a traffic stop on 6th Street for expired registration. During the traffic stop, officers found plant-based marijuana inside the car. A 22-year-old female from Worland was issued a citation for possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and for failure to provide liability insurance.
Saturday, March 4
2:09 p.m. Police were dispatched to a business for the report of possible credit card fraud being committed by two customers. This case is still under investigation.
11:20 p.m. Officers responded to a hotel for a 911 hang-up call. Upon contact with a female subject, officers learned it was an accidental call. During further investigation, officers discovered a THC vape pen and THC gummies. A 31-year-old female from Bar Nunn, Wyo., was issued a citation for possession of a controlled substance (marijuana).
Sunday, March 5
12:30 p.m. Medical assist on an ambulance call for an elderly female who had fallen, and was no longer breathing. This patient was transported to the hospital for further aid.

Misty Vanderploeg, driving while under the influence of alcohol, equal to or greater than .08%, first offense within 10 years, 6 months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $470.
Neil J. Strickland, property destruction, under $1,000, 180 days jail, 172 days suspended, six months supervised probation, fees and fines $220, restitution $2,060 and leaving a scene of an accident, damage to attended vehicle or property, first offense, 180 days jail, 172 days suspended, fees and fines $180 and driving while license is suspended, second plus offense, six months supervised probation, fees and fines $220 and interference with a peace officer, 180 days jail, 178 days suspended, six months supervised probation, fees and fines $220 and criminal trespass, 180 days jail, 178 days suspended, six months supervised probation, fees and fines $70.
Nathan M. Thomas, driving without an interlock device, driving privileges restricted by court or law, first offense, fees and fines $270 and interference with a peace officer, one year jail, one year suspended, one year supervised probation, fees and fines $70.
Ronald F. Shoemaker II was bound over to District Court for two counts of sexual assault, third degree, sexual contact without intrusion and aggressive assault and battery and sexual battery.
Shawn M. Patrick was bound over to District Court for possession of a controlled substance, liquid, 3/10 gram or less, third plus offense, possession of a controlled substance, powder or crystal, three grams or less, third plus offense and possession of a controlled substance, plant, three ounces or less, third plus offense.
Bradley Jameson, breach of peace, fees and fines $370.
