First Day Hike to showcase Runway Trail

Hot Springs State Park Supervisor Kevin Skates is holding the First Day Hike on January 1, 2023, beginning at 11 a.m.

Participants are to meet at the Thermopolis Golf Course to hike the new Runway Trail.

Skates said, “Depending on the weather, we’ll probably just hike one to two miles, depending on how far people want to go. We just kind of play that by ear, depending on the weather, how cold it is and how much snow.”

Skates went into further detail and said, “We’re hiking on the new Runway Trail that comes off T-Hill and goes over to Roundtop. We’re going to hike it in either direction and we might take both directions to showcase the new Runway Trail that is a connector trail between Roundtop and T-Hill.”

Skates asks that hikers dress appropriately. Water and snacks will be provided, however, hikers can bring their own beverages.
