On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Monday, Dec. 5

9:02 a.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

9:39 a.m. Report of mail fraud involving a male subject. The case is still under investigation.

12:53 p.m. Welfare check on a male who was OK and found in good health.

4:14 p.m. A vehicle was reported after it passed a school bus with flashing red lights and stop arm activated. 

Tuesday, Dec. 6

2:01 a.m. Report of a door open at a restaurant. The owners were notified.

8:24 a.m. Report of a vehicle versus a deer. There were no injuries. 

8:13 p.m. Neil Strickland, 38, was arrested for alleged violation of bond conditions. 

10:31 p.m. A deputy provided a courtesy ride for an adult female.

Thursday, Dec. 8

12:45 a.m. Report of a verbal family disturbance. Both parties agreed to separate for the evening. No criminal actions occurred. 

1:05 p.m. A deputy provided a courtesy ride to an adult male for a civil standby to retrieve property. 

1:30 p.m. A person requested a welfare check on a family member as they haven’t heard from them in over a year. Law enforcement has had recent contact with the family member. The caller was told to contact a different family member that has been in recent contact with the family member in question. 

5 p.m. Skyelor Tiberius Stewart, 22, from Powell, was arrested for alleged bond revocation.

Friday, Dec. 9

4 p.m. A deputy responded to check the health and wellbeing of two cows. 

6:57 p.m. Teresa Velasquez, 48, was arrested on two Hot Springs County warrants for probation revocation. 

6:57 p.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

8:09 p.m. Traffic accident involving a vehicle versus deer crash.

Monday, Dec. 5

9:02 a.m. A search warrant was executed in the 100 block of Broadway Street. Michael Miller, 57, was arrested for alleged felony possession of marijuana, distribution of marijuana, distribution of paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, and use of a controlled substance. During this search, over 1/2 pound of plant-form marijuana was seized along with other THC liquid-form products. In addition, Tanya Miller, 50, was arrested for an alleged violation of her court-ordered bond conditions. 

3:09 p.m. A 35-year-old male was trespassed from a business.

Tuesday, Dec. 6

2:01 a.m. Report of an unsecured premise. The building was cleared and owners were notified.

1:37 p.m. Report of a hit-and-run traffic accident involving a female. 

1:50 p.m. A male was walking his dog on a leash and a dog from the neighborhood, which was loose, ran up to the man. The man picked his dog up and put his hand on his concealed carry handgun in case the other dog came up to attack him or his dog. The owner of the dog running loose was contacted. 

2:36 p.m. Mikayla Chrisien, 19, was arrested for alleged violation of bond conditions, minor in possession of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident. 

8:13 p.m. Agency assist for the Sheriff’s Office.

Wednesday, Nov. 7

2:13 p.m. Report of a stolen and copied check that was deposited electronically for different amounts of money in a different state. 

6:12 p.m. A vehicle accident that resulted in no injuries. No citations were issued. 

Thursday, Dec. 8

7:31 a.m. Report of a traffic accident involving a male who struck the unattended vehicle of another male as he was backing his vehicle out of a driveway. No one was injured during this crash. Police collected crash scene information and provided both parties with a crash report. 

8:48 a.m. A female provided a UA as per her bond conditions and tested negative for controlled substances. 

9:31 a.m. Report of an extra patrol involving a resident check.

Friday, Dec. 9

7:40 a.m. A 30-year-old female came to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) for a check-in. While at the LEC, she provided a Bond PBT, which was allegedly positive for the presence of alcohol. 

5:29 p.m. A female was contacted by police in parking lot of a business. Police were actively looking for a male subject with an arrest warrant that the female may have had information on. While speaking to the female, a male approached the police officer in a threatening and angered manner. The male was advised to return to his vehicle or face possible interference charges and the male complied.

5:19 p.m. Boone Rogers, 48, was arrested for an alleged bond revocation warrant. 

6:56 p.m. Paul Mathewson, 56, was arrested in the 100 block of Fremont Street for an alleged bond violation warrant, use of a controlled substance, and a second bond violation. 

Saturday, Dec. 10

3:56 p.m. A female and her friends contacted law enforcement regarding the possible theft of money stolen by the female’s husband. Police determined the husband did not take any money from his wife or her friends. The wife left the residence and stayed the night with her friends. 

7:10 p.m. A male juvenile was charged with minor in possession of tobacco and alcohol, possession of a controlled substance, and use of a controlled substance. 

Sunday, Dec. 11

10:11 a.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of East Arapahoe Street. During the stop, the officer located marijuana. The 60-year-old male from Shoshoni was cited for speeding and possession of marijuana. 

1:22 p.m. Report of a male that was parked illegally within an alley. The male advised his vehicle battery was dead and his car would not start. Police provided the male with a battery charge and got his car started. The male moved his vehicle.

Darren J. Olson, failure to provide proof of liability insurance, fees and fines $560 and not having compulsory auto insurance, first offense, fees and fines $570.

Erin J. Duran, breach of peace, 30 days jail, 30 days suspended, six months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $220.

Tanner B. Eastlund, driving while license is canceled, suspended, or revoked if not suspended, fees and fines $440.

Paul H. Warren, possession of a controlled substance, plant, three ounces or less, 30 days jail, 30 days suspended, six months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $220.

Birth

Eadyn Moon was born Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Hot Springs Health to Macinna and Jonathan Moon.

She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

Grandparents are Kim Sams and Joe and Rachel Moon.
