Lady Cats make plan to change up some positions

by Tatum Epperson

The Lady Bobcat Varsity Volleyball team played in Cody last weekend in the Border Wars Tournament.

At the tournament, Wyoming schools play against Montana schools.

“It is a fun tournament because we get to play schools we don’t ever see and we play full 5 set matches which is great for our girls to get used to before regular season,” said coach Shannon Hill.

The Lady Cats played two matches Friday and two matches on Saturday.

Game scores include (with the Lady Cats score first): Lady Cats vs. Custer County 24-26; 25-22; 22-25 and 23-25; vs. Laurel 15-25, 18-25 and 23-25; vs. Dawson 21-25, 23-25 and 21-25; vs. Hardin19-25, 13-25 and 16-25.

“We unfortunately went 0-4 this weekend, however we were competitive in most games only dropping by 2-3 points. This tournament gave us a great starting point to really dissect our team and figure out how we can elevate to the next level.  We made some progress, but we also need to be able to pull off those games that we are losing only by a couple of points,” said Hill.

She added, “We will be changing some positions up this week and trying to figure out the best combination of athletes that will get us wins.  We have the tools, we just need to figure out how to utilize them to their best potential.”

The Lady Cats play in the Rawlins 3A tournament this weekend.

Hill said, “It will be a great opportunity to try some different rotations and come together as a team.”
