Bobcats host golf invite

by Tatum Epperson

The Bobcat Golf Team has been busy and there is no end in sight.

Last Thursday, the Bobcats hosted their invite on their home course.

Coach Brandon Deromedi said, "At home, we left a few strokes out on the course on the boys side. At times, I believe playing at home can be more difficult than on an unfamiliar course. The expectation feels like you should play well since you know the course but the reality is that a casual round or practice round of golf is much different than a tournament round.

Deromedi added, "Lilly played as well as I have seen her play and expect that she will continue to improve. She has put the time in and has been very intentional at practice. In three weeks of tournament play she has gone from a 140 in Powell to a 117 in Thermopolis. I am so proud of her work."

Lilly Johnson shot a 117 at home which is a personal best tournament round for her, better by 12 strokes from Cody.

Hadley Johnson placed 5th at the Bobcat Invite. Overall score for the Bobcat Invite was 351, earning the boys team 4th.

This year's roster of athletes includes: girls - Ki Kraushaar and Lilly Johnson; boys - Hayden Overfield, Jonah Needham, Hadley Johnson, Spencer Calhoun, Seth Weyer and Tyler Chrisien.

Next up for the Bobcats was the Lovell Invite last Friday.

Coach Deromedi said "I was very pleased with our scores in Lovell. That course is deceivingly difficult as it looks short and easy but you have to be accurate and consistent to score well. One of the coaches described it as a mini Pinehurst."

Overfield set a personal record for the Lovell course with an 83.

At Lovell, Johnson placed 3rd and Hadley placed 4th. The overall score for the Lovell Invite was 361, earning the boys team 3rd.

Bobcats will be up next at the Lander's Terry Berg Invite Thursday and Friday.
