Rangel opens Homestead Realty

Buddy Rangel recently started Homestead Realty located at 443 Big Horn Street. Rangel has been in the real estate business since 2014.

Rangel said about his service, "I want buyers and sellers to know that they can expect more from us. I'm not going to say one bad thing about the other real estate companies because I've worked with them and they all seem to be pretty good. But I just want people to know that, you know, that they're going to get honesty from me. They're going to get loyalty. They're going to get all the disclosures that are needed. And I'm going to make sure that I give them as much of the proper advice with the proper tools. So that way they can make the right decisions."

Rangel added, "I'm excited to give people another opportunity."

Regarding the issue of housing prices here in Hot Springs County, Rangel said some prices might go even higher and that "my biggest fear is with the interest rates going up. Right now we're still in a seller's market.... But the thing is, with interest rates going up, it's kind of dwindling the buyers down. Because a year ago, a buyer could afford a $250,000 home. Now, with interest rates going up, you may be looking more at $190,000 because I think they've increased by pretty close to two points in the last year. That makes a big difference."

Some of the feedback Rangel has received from customers shows they are facing some difficulties. Rangel said, "Buyers are frustrated. I have some buyers that want to move here, but they can't even find a rental until something pops up. So with them being out of town, they're just kind of on edge when something comes up, they say, 'So what do you think? Is that close to what we need?' Maybe I can go look for you and then we look for it."

Rangel added, "They're disappointed. It's very disappointing for buyers, but still exciting for sellers just because we're still in a seller's market. Things still get top dollar for probably the biggest thing that I have.... I always want to be honest with buyers and sellers. I'm not going to beat around the bush. I'm not the decision-maker they are. So, to be honest, it's really not that difficult because they asked me a question. I want to tell you, it's their decision to make. They're the ones either selling or they're the one buying."

According to Rangel, a lot of buyers for properties are from out of town.

Rangel concluded and said, "People can expect more from me. I'm going to go the extra distance for them. I'm going to make sure that a seller gets the top price and, of course, buyers get the price that they're comfortable with. And hopefully, when it's all done and said, they walk away with a smile on their face."
