Fern Jeanette Palmer, 63, passed peacefully Thursday, March 24, 2022, at her home in Thermopolis, surrounded by her family.
Born January 23, 1959, in Little Rock, Ark., she was one of four children of Floyd and Lorene (Stroud) Allen. The family later moved to Gillette, Wyo. There she met her future husband, Melvin D. Palmer. The couple married May 31, 1989 in Heber Springs, Ark. They returned to Wyoming and later moved to Thermopolis.
Jeanette enjoyed working as a clerk at pharmacies in Thermopolis. An independent, spunky woman, she was slow to anger and with a "listening ear," was so understanding. She enjoyed raising and nurturing plants and spending time with her family.
Family cherishing her memory include her mother, Lorene Allen of Locust Grove, Ark .; son, Tracy (Barb) Allen of Thermopolis; stepsons, Dawayne (Yvonne) Palmer and Rich (Daphne) Palmer, both of Green River, Wyo., and Melvin (Tammy) Palmer of Missouri; sister in law, Karon Allen; 15 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and her dear friend, Judy Young.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Allen; brothers, Larry, Wayne and Lynn Allen; husband, Mel; and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022, 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Caleb Howe officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Casper, Wyo., at Highland Cemetery next to her husband.
