On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Highway Patrol

Thursday, Jan. 6

Unknown time: Darrick Andrew Collins, 18, of Casper was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance, plant form, careless driving second offense and speeding.

Sheriff’s Office

Tuesday, Jan. 4

11:22 a.m. Report of vandalism involving an outdoor faucet that was never fully turned off. The matter was determined to be unfounded. 

5:47 p.m. A deputy assisted emergency medical services in the transport of a patient to the hospital. 

Thursday, Jan. 6

Unknown time: Keipher Aaron Loos, 31, was arrested for alleged probation revocation. 

3:55 p.m. Report of agency assist where a deputy helped Highway Patrol in a traffic stop. 

Friday, Jan. 7

11:54 a.m. Report of an agency assist where a deputy helped the Department of Family Services in observing a urinalysis. 

Saturday, Jan. 8

12:24 p.m. Report of an agency assist involving a deputy working with a BLM Ranger on a livestock issue. The report is pending. 

8:13 p.m. Report of a chimney fire on Lane 5. The deputies provided ground assistance. 

Sunday, Jan. 9

9:39 a.m. Report of citizen assist involving a deputy who escorted a couple to the hospital to deliver their baby.

Police Department

Monday, Jan. 3

11:39 a.m. Report of an unsecured premise. Officers responded and found an open door. They were unable to contact the owner but secured the home.

11:51 a.m. Report of fraud that is still under investigation. 

Tuesday, Jan. 4

12:52 a.m. Report of a citizen assist involving a request from a mother needing help with her adult son, 26 years old. 

2:17 p.m. Report of fraud that is still under investigation.

2:20 p.m. Report of found property involving a single key hanging on a multicolored lanyard. It has a tag “Own Your Greatness.” It was found in the 300 block of North 4th Street.

11:42 p.m. Report of a family fight that was verbal only. The parties were separated for the night. There were no citations. 

Thursday, Jan. 6

2:22 p.m. Report of a citizen assist involving a missing package that was supposedly delivered to a different address. The subject at that location was contacted and the package was not there.

3:14 p.m. Report of an accident involving a truck and sedan at the flagpole in the 500 block of Broadway. There were no injuries. The truck dropped an axel in the accident. A 62-year-old male was cited for failure to yield. 

3:37 p.m. Report of a hit and run that occurred sometime between Sunday and Thursday. It involved a parked vehicle on a street. There are no suspects.

4:20 p.m. Report of suspicious activity involving a 66-year-old female potential victim. The matter is still under investigation. 

Friday, Jan. 7

5:52 a.m. Report of a fire involving a properly reported controlled burn. It was a false alarm as the wrong address was used. There are no citations. 

3:57 p.m. Christopher Hastie, 37, of Utah, was arrested on a warrant from Utah for multiple charges. He was bonded out within the hour.

11:55 p.m. Report of a fire at 102 Circle Drive. The back portion of a double-level building was burned. There were reports of ammunition exploding in the fire. 

Sunday, Jan. 9

1:43 p.m. Report of a citizen assist involving semi-trucks parking in the 900 block of Shoshoni. There were complaints of the smell of diesel fuel and noise of engines idling. 

Circuit Court

Grady M. Trombley, driving while under the influence of alcohol, 18 years or older, with a child passenger, first offense, 180 days jail, 173 days suspended, two years supervised probation, fees and fines $720.

Aaron M. Bissonette, driving while under the influence of alcohol, equal to or greater than 0.08% within two hours of driving, first offense within 10 years, 30 days jail, 26 days suspended, one year supervised probation, fees and fines $420.

Douglas E. Bell, driving while license is canceled, suspended, or revoked if not suspended for 31-5-229 or 31-5-233, fees and fines $450 and driving while under the influence of alcohol, equal to or greater than 0.08%, second offense within 10 years, 180 days jail, 173 days suspended, one year supervised probation, fees and fines $270.

Benjamin P. Feathers, shooting from, across or along roadways, fees and fines $250 and taking wrong sex of animal, fees and fines $250.
