John Arthur McIntosh passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, in Thermopolis, Wyo., a few days before his 81st birthday.
Born October 2, 1940, in Cheyenne, Wyo., he was the son of Jack and Margaret (Bacon) McIntosh. After graduating from Cheyenne High School he joined the Marine Corps in June, 1959 serving until July, 1961, then the Air Force being honorably discharged in 1964. He later served ten years with the Army National Guard until 1983.
John attended the University of Wyoming graduating with a BA degree in education. In 1972 he moved to Thermopolis working for NOWCAP Head Start. He pursued further education in Special Education classes in Billings, returning to Thermopolis to teach at the Children's Center, now BOCES, retiring in the early 90s due to health problems.
On May 23, 1974, he married Madonna Hobart in Thermopolis, Wyo. To this union was born two sons. A member of St. Francis Catholic Church, he was active in the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Jaycees and enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing.
John is survived by his wife, Madonna, of 47 years; sons, Bart (Penny) and Bill (Kaddi); five grandchildren; and brothers, Mike of Cheyenne, Tom of Cortez, Colo., and Ron of Cheyenne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Charmaine.
A memorial mass will be held when the family can come together. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Church for religious education, P.O. Box 272, Thermopolis, 82443.
