Lila Ramona Waring

Lila Ramona Waring, 96, passed away at Hot Springs County Hospital on September 3, 2021.

Lila was born on March 21, 1925, in Garfield, Utah. She was one of four children born to Ryder and Asta (Christensen) Waring, proud Norwegian immigrants who entered the United States through Ellis Island, New York.

She graduated from Granite High School in Salt Lake City in 1942. A short time after graduation, she married Wesley Guest in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. This was just three weeks before he shipped out to service in the Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Lila’s older sister, Becky, served in the United States Marines during this time also.

Lila enjoyed being an administrative assistant for the president of KSL television in Salt Lake and working at the CBS television affiliate in Los Angeles. After she retired, she returned to Salt Lake City, later moving to Thermopolis in 2004.

Lila greatly appreciated her church family and the friends she made in Thermopolis. She also appreciated the small-town way of life and the helpfulness of folks here. Those who knew Lila will remember how she enjoyed taking pride in her appearance, dressing up for church and doing her makeup, even at age ninety-six.

Lila is survived by her daughters, Corrie and Deb Guest of Thermopolis; her “one and only grandchild”, Halston (Rob) Mason of Salt Lake City; and several nieces and nephews mostly from Salt Lake, Phoenix and Turlock, Calif.

She will be laid to rest in Salt Lake next to Wes, who passed in 2003, and their son, Randy who died in infancy.

A graveside service will be held at that time. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
