Warm Oil Fire

Thermopolis Volunteer Firemen responded to a fire near Warm Springs Road on Saturday, July 31. The Cody Interagency Dispatch Center was notified and additional resources were sent to help with the fire. Two tandem rotor Shinook helicopters (one pictured above), a spotter plane to choreograph air traffic, five single engine air tankers, two large tankers, a dozer, a grader and around 79 BLM personnel assisted the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department crew in holding the fire to around 400 acres. The fire was considered contained on Sunday evening.
