WRC crash results in fatality

The crash south of Thermopolis on Friday, June 18, that led to the road closure of US20/WY789 between Shoshoni and Thermopolis in Wind River Canyon, reportedly resulted in a fatality and an injured person.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol crash report, a pickup was southbound on US 20, when the driver attempted to pass another southbound vehicle.

The driver of the pickup attempted to avoid a collision with a passenger car headed northbound, but was unable to and the two vehicles were in an offset head-on collision.

The report states that Patrick Moore, 73, of Dubois, passed away due to injuries sustained from the crash. The identity of the injured person is unknown at this point, as is their current condition.

The highway was closed in both directions for several hours.
