Wanda H. McCoy

Thermopolis resident, Wanda H. McCoy, 96, passed away June 9, 2021, at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family in Riverton, Wyo.

One of eleven children, Wanda was born December 12, 1924, in Broken Arrow, Okla., the daughter of Willie William (Bill) and Thelma (Garrison) Hamilton.

On March 4, 1944, she married Leo S. McCoy in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.  Following Leo's service in the Army they moved to Hamilton Dome, Wyo., to the oil fields, then later to their forever home in Thermopolis.

A homemaker, Wanda enjoyed crocheting, camping in the mountains, hunting, fishing and playing cards. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, extension clubs 3-W's and 3-B's, serving as president, vice-president and secretary.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise (Robert) Riley of Riverton, Wyo; siblings, Bobby Hamilton of Pryor, Okla., and Crystal Gill of Stillwell, Okla .; daughter-in-law, Hope McCoy of Rock Springs, Wyo .; grandchildren, Cindy McCoy,  Michelle (William) Davis, Brian (Katie) McCoy, Becky (Lyle) Miller, Tracy (Tim) Warren, Cory Riley and Brandy Riley;  thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, of 56 years, Leo; children, Leo Jr, Leota and Herbert; three brothers; five sisters; and a great, great-grandson.

 A rosary was held Wed., June 16 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thurs., June 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Randy Oswald. Burial will follow at Monument Hill Cemetery in Thermopolis, Wyo.
